JANN FREED, PhD

IN SEARCH OF LEADERSHIP WISDOM

Jann Freed is the former Mark and Kay De Cook Endowed Chair in Leadership and Character Development and a professor of business management at Central College in Pella, Iowa.  She is now CEO of Jann Freed LLC, a leadership development firm that helps people and organizations evolve and transform.  Freed has co-authored two books on continuous improvement in higher education, and one book on shifting the focus from teaching to learning.  Her latest book of photographs and essays is entitled Women of Yucatan: Thirty Who Dare To Change Their World.   A bilingual photography exhibit to accompany the book has been on display in more than 30 public spaces around Iowa since 2000.

As a certified sage-ing leader through the Sage-ing Guild©, Freed emphasizes life renewal and life transitions by shifting the focus from aging to sage-ing.  With this method, self-leadership is developed by transforming life experience into wisdom.  In Freed’s current study, she has interviewed more than 100 thought leaders in the field of leadership to provide the basis of her upcoming book, In Search of Wisdom:  What I Learned from Leadership Sages.
